About The Musical Therapy Club

The Musical Therapy Club was started as a student club at the University of Nevada Reno. The club’s goal was to give members the opportunity to participate in philanthropy through music by performing for audiences in need. The MTC community at UNR grew so rapidly and profoundly that graduating members decided to expand it into a nonprofit organization in 2018. With over 3,000 volunteer hours in our local communities, we have raised over $20,000 and provided material resources to organizations such as UNICEF and the Eddy House. Our chapters, in total, currently have 200+ members and counting!

The Musical Therapy Club aims to generate meaningful performance opportunities for musicians, as well as meaningful musical experiences that increase quality of life for audience members.

Philanthropy

The main focus of our organization is charity work. We provide quality musical performances as a form of therapy to the elderly or sick through hospitals, hospices, and retirement homes hoping to create smiles for those in need and to spread our love for music.

Family

The MTC Family is a close knit group of musicians and music lovers who want to channel their passion to give back to the community. The MTC family is growing all the time! There is no feeling like participating in a meaningful performance with some of your closest friends.

Music

The Musical Therapy Club has many passionate minds who aim to contribute to the community through music. Our ensembles of volunteers perform a variety of original music, classics, and modern pop songs. Even though we know it can't solve all the world's problems, we believe strongly in the power of music to increase quality of life for everyone.

We partner with a number of hospice centers, elder care facilities, and businesses in the Reno/Tahoe area, providing enriching musical experiences wherever we are given the opportunity.
